Parents And Children Across The Country And Around The World Are Discovering A Fun And Nurturing New Addition To The Nightly Sleep-Time Ritual – And It’s Working!!!"...My son absolutely loves when Shushybye comes on the baby channel. We were having so much trouble getting him to go to sleep lately and since I read him the book and play him the songs at night he goes to sleep in 5 minutes."
"...My 9 month old daughter stops whatever she is doing and watches Shushybye, whether crying, playing or eating. Since I bought the book, she has been the happiest baby ever. And sleeping very well at night, which also makes me the happiest mom."
"...Our daughter loves to read about Snoozles, Zeez, and Dozie every night before bedtime. Its also the only thing that cheers her up when she's sick! We love to listen to the great music, too! Cassandra would love to dream of going to Pillow Park and singing and dancing with her friends, the Shushies."
"...I just had to tell you how wonderful Shushybye is! I have two kids - 3 years and 14 months. I've been trying to get them into a bedtime routine. We watch Shushybye on TV and read the book at night. They know that when I’m done reading and listening to the wonderful Shushybye lullabies, it's time to start getting ready for bed."
The follow-up to the debut SHUSHYBYE bedtime picture storybook, SHUSHYBYE: SLEEPOVER SURPRISE returns readers to the magical land of Shushybye where the Shushies – who live in such villages as Nap Valley and Snore Shore – make dreams for children. In SHUSHYBYE: SLEEPOVER SURPRISE, Shushy best friends SNOOZLES, DOZIE and ZEEZ discover there doesn’t have to be an occasion to be nice to your friends. After DOZIE bakes SNOOZLES and ZEEZ one of her famous Sky Pies, the two Shushies think of a special way to let her know how much they care about her friendship. Together, they plan a concert at The House of Snooze in DOZIE’s honor. The book also introduces a pair of very comical Shushies, Snort and Wheez who drive the Shushybye Dream Van to pick up all the completed Dream Boxes and bring them to Conductor McCloud. It’s an important job. Included inside the book – which features a glow-in-the-dark front cover – is a ReadAlong/SingAlong audio CD that includes the popular “Shushybye Blues” song and two other original songs, along with the entire story narrated by our official Shushybye storyteller, XM KiDS’ morning personality Kenny Curtis (and the voices of all the Shushies). The popular SHUSHYBYE franchise is headed by Shushybye Baby, a live action and animated television series airing daily on the national (and international) children’s channel BabyFirstTV as well as on Comcast Cable - the #1 Video On Demand network in the country. Plus, XM Satellite Radio’s award-winning children’s channel XM KiDS (Channel 116) presents “The Shushybye Show on XM KiDS’ which airs twice daily. In addition to the SHUSHYBYE TV and radio shows and St. Martin’s Press picture storybooks, SHUSHYBYE also boasts a critically-acclaimed series of Shushybye Dream Band music CD’s from KOCH Records, award-winning concert DVD’s from PBS Video, sleepwear from Adorable Kids, Inc. and the beloved line of plush dolls from The Shushybye Company. The newest book, SHUSHYBYE: SLEEPOVER SURPRISE is a wonderful addition to the established franchise, giving parents another loving way to ease their preschoolers into bedtime. Drawn in an accessible cartoon style, SHUSHYBYE: SLEEPOVER SURPRISE will spark the imagination of children who wonder where dreams come from. Toddlers and preschoolers will love the colorful land of Shushybye and the cuddly, pajama-clad Shushies, who, supported by catchy and spirited rock music and lullabies – and enticing glow-in-the-dark cover - will smoothly shepherd them towards sleep—and towards their Shushybye Dream Boxes! Children can’t get enough of Shushybye—and neither can their parents! Here’s what they’re saying about Shushybye Baby on BabyFirstTV:
“Right after the bath and brushing their teeth, now the girls climb on the sofa for Shushybye Baby! It’s really giving some very positive associations with the other nightly rituals.”
“My son is only eleven months old, but he loves Shushybye. No matter what he’s doing, he’ll drop it to run to the TV and watch in amazement.”
“I love your show, too. I am twenty-five and I have loved music as long as I can remember, and the music on your show is great. It’s melodic and soothing, and the lyrics are so original!!! Love the show!!!!”
My 10 month old daughter LOVES LOVES LOVES the shushies! We watch the show on Baby First TV, and when ever the music starts or if anyone blurts out :"Oh my my" she gets so excited. She's very serious about her shushies. I just ordered the Shushybye Close Your Eyes book! Also do you have any plans to bring the Shushies to Florida?
Thank you so much for Shushybye! My daughter has the Close Your Eyes book and CD, and when we played the CD for her in the car, she was happier than I've ever seen her. She started to shake. What a fan!

Most parents have experienced difficulty at some time getting their little ones to go to sleep. A drink of water or final assuring kiss often does the trick. But what about a book, DVD or CD? Too much noise? Too much excitement? Maybe not. The "Shushybye, Close Your Eyes" book — which has a glow-in-the-dark cover — tells the story of little Leo and Leona, who, if they stay up too late, will miss taking their nightly trip through Dreamworld where the Shushies hand out Dream Boxes. The story line is exciting, but it tells kids that it's worth their while to go to sleep. Same with the concert DVD of the Shushybye Dream Band, which plays the "Shushybye Theme Song," the lullaby "Shushybye and Goodnight" and a new song, the appropriately-named "Close Your Eyes." If this all sounds like a franchise, it is. There's a Web site (www.shushybye.com) and a cable television show on BabyFirstTV and Comcast Video on Demand. There's also an XM Satellite Radio Show. But the book may be just enough to get your children to settle down, close their eyes and await the trip to the Kingdom of Shushybye. — MELANIE LAUWERS BOOKS EDITOR
Pumpernickel Parents© Review: Shushybye Collection By Lee Anna LoehrThe Shushybye Story Collection includes a CD, DVD and book with a reading CD – all nicely put together and coordinated with a helpful parental morality story behind it. We first listened to the CD at bedtime. Next time, we read the book sans CD at bedtime. And then we watched the DVD during the daytime. The CD was very nice contemporary folk music with wonderful vocalists, but it seemed too stimulating for sleep-time so we put it aside after one listening. However, after watching the great concert DVD (ala Soundstage mixed with a little Barney character action), I’ve reconsidered. The reason is that my little one stood at attention through the entire DVD viewing, singing and dancing to the easy lyrics and lovely song melodies and enraptured by the many pans of the kids in the audience and characters on stage. I also preferred the DVD to the book because the DVD shows a lot of different kinds of people – parents and kids of many ages, ethnicities and demeanors as well as ‘Snoozle’ characters from undeclared origins. Further, being the female head of a single parent household, it’s always a challenge to explain why we don’t have a Daddy while reading any nuclear family story such as this – often we digress at this point and never return to port. With the Shushybye DVD, this issue is circumvented and I get a short reprieve. So, now, all I have to do is explain the moral of the story, right? Also, the book has kid-friendly illustrations but the plot line felt contrived. I missed the diversity of the DVD when reading the book and was going to resign it to the give-away pile when my highly evolved but eager to read 2 ½ year old asked for this book the next night, unprompted (“shushie, shushie, Mommy!”) Now that’s a recommendation you can hang your hat on regardless of what I say or think! Bottom line is that the CD will be played now that we have a great visual context provided by the DVD. The book will hang out in our current library of favorites, and the DVD will become part of Mommy’s back-up digital babysitter arsenal. Good enough!
Shushybye and good night!
The Norman Transcript
Transcript Staff WriterOne of my biggest nightmares as the mother of three children was trying to get them settled down and asleep for the night. Steve Syatt had the same problem. I fought it and prayed for the strength to get through just one more night. Syatt wrote a book. "Shushybye: Close Your Eyes" is full of magical creatures, Snoozles, Dozie and Zeez, who live in a cloud in the kingdom of Shushybye. They put music-laden dreams into dream boxes and send them to the children's bedrooms so they will quickly fall asleep with stories and songs. Not only do the Shushies help the children go to sleep in the towns of Snore Shore, Slumber Heights and Nap Valley, they teach the children important life lessons, such as sharing and teamwork. They also can help with the anxiety that comes with the first day of school or a new sibling. Syatt is a guitarist who writes and performs the songs on the accompanying CD. The music is a soothing blend of rock and folk music that surely will put your child to sleep. The Shushybye series is based on the new show on the BabyFirstTV network, Shushybye BABY which airs daily at various times on DirecTV and DISH Network. The series also has a concert DVD, radio show, a line of plush toys and a children's clothing line, featuring the Shushybye characters.
